An Insight Into Anderson's YA Fandom Frenzy

YA Fandom Frenzy was one of the most enjoyable events that I have gotten the opportunity to go to. It was a free event just for teens who love books. And the awesome thing was that I got to do for free. There was so much to do for a book lover. For starters there when you got there they gave you a bag with either a book or a really cool t-shirt. There was this table full of cool things like buttons, posters, arcs (advanced reader copies), and tattoos that we got to take from.Then we got to listen to some YA authors who to talk about their books and themselves. Many of them had some comedy which was good. Like I learned that Ann Brashares, author of The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, when she was growing up had a tarantula, two piranhas, and pretty much a zoo living with her. There were panels to get to ask authors more questions and it was a lot of fun to really get to know the authors.

Then there was one on one interaction with the authors with a YA quiz bowl which there were groups of kids paired with two authors. From there we got to hang with the authors I was in the group with Julie Buxbaum and Amy Reed. When we were divided into teams we had to come up with a name for our team. We choose the “Ask-Kickers.” They were really funny and it was so much fun. After that, we went to the bookstore to go get some books. I was all over the place trying to decide on which books to choose from (and you know if you’re a true book lover how hard it is to pick just the right book). So, I ended up picking Hunting Prince Dracula by Kerri Maniscalco and The Best Kind of Magic by Crystal Cestari. I got to get my books signed by the authors and take a photo with them. Overall, the day was so much fun and such a great experience to actually meet authors and get to know them. I highly recommend that those who are reading this go to the YA Fandom Frenzy at least once to have an amazing book-fan adventure.
